Screening of Riding My Way Back
Tuesday, November 11, 2014
The Bridge Center is pleased to announce an upcoming screening of RIDING MY WAY BACK, a new, award winning short documentary chronicling the powerful healing of therapeutic riding for a veteran with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury. This screening will be shown on Tuesday, November 11th from 6:00-8:00PM at The Bridge Center, 470 Pine Street Bridgewater, MA, and will include a panel discussion hosted by The Bridge Center’s Therapeutic Riding Center Staff. Tours of the facility will take place at the completion of the discussion. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. In 2010, Staff Sergeant Aaron Heliker returned from multiple deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). At his most desperate and isolated time, on 42 medications and suicidal, Aaron was introduced to the unlikeliest of saviors: a horse named Fred. Through caring for Fred, Aaron begins the difficult process of reconnecting to the world around him and healing the invisible wounds of war that nearly defeated him. For more information on this screening and to learn about The Bridge Center’s Therapeutic Riding Program and Hero’s on Horseback Program, please contact Sarah Norris at Snorris@TheBridgeCtr.org or 508-697-7557 Ext. 20. I loved the small groups. After a school year with 22 kids in the class, my son having a nice small group where he got tons of attention was so refreshing.
